What does this MOVIE LINE mean? What is Geronimo?
In Kate & Leapold, when they are doing the Farmer’s Bounty commercial, Leopold says, "I take it this is to be given in direct address as on Geronimo" Is that a play from the 1870s? I don’t think it refers to the man Geronimo. The camera man says, "He means Giraldo" . So the floor director obviously tells him that’s right. But what does GERONIMO refer to? It is still funny of course, cuz it has the ‘generation gap’ joke in there. I still laugh. But i don’t fully get the front half of it. Leopold is from the year 1876. I have tried to find the answer, and cannot. Thank you.
Usually, the line Geronimo is from people who jump out of airplanes. It was spoofed in Hot Shots! when one of the people jumping out of a plane yells, "ME!"

Hieronimo is a character in a 16th century play called "The Spanish Tragedy".
His dialogue is similar to that of Shakespeare’s "Hamlet".
